About

Photography should be a passion and where ever way it may takes you - enjoy it. That's the whole purpose of this blog; it is meant to show a trace of where my photography took me and how it evolved over time. I hope you like it.

Copy rights are always an issue. So, if you are wondering - all the pictures available are put under Creative Commons License CC BY-NC-SA Version 3.0 In a nutshell it says that the pictures are free for non-commercial use as long as you do not remove my name from the meta information or attribute the picture with my name. There is one limitation though! Since I cannot forward permission of people in the pictures, all pictures that show people are strictly forbidden to be copied or reused. I just have no more permission than to show the pictures.

Contacting me is pretty easy. Write an e-mail to 'myfirstname' (@) micro-photon.eu and I'll get back to you as soon as I can. On skype watch out for andreas.ganser, ICQ would be 120671331.

Andreas, that would be me (you kind of need that for the email ;-) I don't like to take myself too serious. Over time I shot quite a lot of profile pictures, though I never started doing portraits. At the moment there are more than thirty profiles on social networks that I shot - mostly because I caught people in moments where they felt at ease with themselves and liked being in a portrait. Otherwise, my focus is on artistic touristy pictures. So, the question is how to frame and compose a motive that was shot billions of times so it becomes unique again.

History is certainly important, not just because it repeats itself. Regarding my equipment I never invested a lot in gear. Years ago I started with a Canon EOS 500D in a kit version with a 18-200mm lens. Quickly I dumped this lens and found my long lasting love, a Canon EF-S 17-55mm f/2.8. This lens was mounted on my 500D on more than 98% of all shots I took with this body. Certainly I was stupid enough to get a 70-300mm as well, but I never used it much. At some point, I got a Canon Powershot SX 260 HS. It did not last more than a few dozen shots and roughly the same time my 500d passed away making room for my true love: My Fujifilm X100s :-) When no one else could get hands on that beauty I had mine already becoming an x-shooter. Later, I upgraded to a Fujifilm X-T1 with a 16-55 f/2.8 and a 50-140 f/2.8 with a 1.4 teleconverter, but have not retired my 100s :-) ... just as a marginal note: yes, I like experimenting with a GoPro Hero3 and due to that I learned to love Adobe Premiere; next to Adobe Photoshop, Lightroom, and Illustrator. But are these not the swiss knifes of everyone who indulges in Photography?
